VISUALLY VERONIKA
Visually Veronika is an animated work I made in early 2022 inspired by Frank Mouris's Frank Film. I was immediately entranced when I first saw this piece in an exhibition at ICP. The overwhelming cacophony of overlapping audios and rapidly moving images culminated into something mesmerizing. With each viewing, I focused on a different aspect of the piece and carefully studied it in order to later create my own version. Through this work, I focused on replicating elements of Frank Mouris's animation. Still foregrounds and rapidly moving backgrounds, clusters of objects filling the screen, and overlapping narration that carefully paralleled the displayed imaging. Although my first attempt at this type of animation, I believe this work communicates not only my story as an individual, but also what I am trying to achieve as an artist.
